When to file 2290 to pay your Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) is admittedly a bit complex. In general terms, form 2290 is expected to be filed the last day of the month, following the month of your first use. You can e-File the 2290 online and get your Schedule 1 in minutes. The filing period for the heavy vehicle taxes starts on July 1st of every year and ends the last day in June.
